The Inn at Spa Creek

Meet the Innkeepers

Jeanne and Rick both grew up and were educated in Massachusetts.  When they met, Jeanne was a teacher, and Rick was beginning his career as a banker.  Rick spent more than thirty years in banking, while Jeanne was a stay at home mother with many side careers.  They have lived in fourteen homes, most of the time in Maryland.

Jeanne and Rick purchased the building in 1997as an “empty nest” project for Jeanne.  When the second of their two boys went off to college, this seemed like a perfect outlet to fill the void.  “It had been a lingering notion to run a B&B, and this seemed like the right time.  This house, which was not the typical B&B, suited my personality”, says Jeanne.  Annapolis felt right, with the varied attractions and the proximity to the water.  The location was important to Rick who was eager to get back to boating, one of the pleasures of his youth.  He recently took a five year “sabbatical” from banking to get his Coast Guard Captain’s license, run a small charter boat and work for a maritime tow boat company.  His heart is never far from the water.

“Being an Innkeeper for more than ten years has been both rewarding and exhausting. It has been a melding of all that I did before.  I have been a teacher, run a party planning business, been an interior decorator, had my own retail business, run a household and been a nurturing mother.  This is definitely the best job for me, and all I did before were the elements I use everyday as an Innkeeper”, Jeanne says.  “Rick serves as the comptroller of the Inn, and also is in charge of the lawns and gardens.  He is always available to talk boats with guests as well.  The Inn has been host to guests from all corners of the world. We have shared special times and occasions with many. Life long friendships have been formed.”
